Jung Kook Ties His BTS Bandmates J-Hope And Suga With His New U.K. Smash

BTS’s Jung Kook wasted no time in establishing himself as a global soloist with the release of his debut single “Seven,” which quickly became a massive hit in various countries, including the U.K. As “Seven” makes its debut on the U.K. songs chart at No. 3, the singer achieves a significant milestone, matching his BTS bandmates J-Hope and Suga in terms of solo hits on the prestigious chart.

“Seven” marks Jung Kook’s third entry on the U.K. songs chart outside of his work with BTS. With this latest placement, he now shares the title of the second-most hits among South Korean soloists on the weekly tally. Joining him in this celebratory frame are his fellow BTS members Suga and J-Hope, as well as another esteemed South Korean musician, Psy, who have all landed a trio of wins on the chart.

Before the release of “Seven,” Jung Kook was on par with Lisa, one of the four members of the K-pop group Blackpink, as they both had managed to secure two hits on the U.K. songs chart as soloists. Now, “Seven” now propels him into the same league as his BTS bandmates and Psy, elevating his status as a solo artist.

The only South Korean musician who has charted more solo hits on the U.K. list is yet another BTS member, Jimin. He has impressively accumulated four placements on the roster, standing out as the most successful soloist from South Korea in terms of the number of appearances on the competitive tally.

Although Jung Kook may not claim the most wins on the ranking, he does boast one of the biggest hits with “Seven.” The song’s noteworthy debut at No. 3 on the U.K. songs chart makes it the second-highest-charting tune in the country’s history by a South Korean solo musician. The coveted top spot remains held by Psy’s iconic “Gangnam Style,” the groundbreaking track that made history as the only K-pop song to reach No. 1 in the U.K.
