Jung Kook’s new single “3D” has proved to be not only a hit upon its arrival but a very strong seller in America. The singer’s latest offering debuts at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, Billboard’s weekly ranking of the bestselling individual tunes in America. As the track launches, the man behind the cut makes history in several manners on that list alone, even tying one of his own bandmates.
“3D” marks Jung Kook’s seventh top 10 hit on the Digital Song Sales chart, as well as his third No. 1. With seven placements inside the highest tier on the tally, he is now tied with fellow BTS star J-Hope for the second-most appearances in the region among South Korean solo musicians.
So far, the only solo star from South Korea who has managed more top 10 hits on the Digital Song Sales chart is Suga. Yet another BTS singer, Suga—who sometimes releases music under the name Agust D—has thus far sent nine different tunes into the most competitive space on the ranking.
Looking at all artists hailing from South Korea, the order of the top-performing names changes again. BTS leads all K-pop acts, as the band is in a very, very distant first place. The band has pushed 34 different tracks into the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart. That number likely won’t climb again for a little while, as the group is on hiatus as several members pursue solo careers and others enlist in the South Korean military.
“3D” begins its time on the Digital Song Sales chart with 49,400 copies sold, according to information shared by Luminate. That hefty sum, when paired with additional physical purchases of the CD version of the track, as well as millions of streams, helped the single debut inside the top 10 on the Hot 100 as well. The collaboration with Jack Harlow launches at No. 5 this week, bringing Jung Kook back to the loftiest space on the chart for the second time on his own.
