One to One: John & Yoko — a post-Beatles era documentary about John Lennon and Yoko Ono — is coming soon to digital streaming.
Directed by Kevin Macdonald (Whitney), One to One: John & Yoko was released in IMAX theaters on April 11 and expanded to a limited release on April 18. The summary for the documentary reads, “An expansive and revelatory inside look at John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s life in Greenwich Village in the early 1970s, One to One: John & Yoko delivers an immersive cinematic experience that brings to life electrifying, never-before-seen material and newly restored footage of John and Yoko’s only full-length concert.
“Featuring mind-blowing music newly remixed and produced by Sean Ono Lennon, the film is a seismic revelation that will challenge pre-existing notions of the iconic couple.”
One to One: John & Yoko will be released on Friday, May 9, with a pre-order price of $16.99, which will also be the film’s purchase price, per Prime Video. Since digital rentals are typically $5 less than purchase prices, One to One: John & Yoko will be available to rent for $11.99 for a 48-hour period.
In addition to Prime Video, One to One: John & Yoko will be available for purchase or rent on a variety of digital platforms, including AppleTV and Fandango at Home.
How Did Audiences And Critics Receive ‘One To One: John & Yoko’?
One To One: John & Yoko has earned $149,206 domestically and $137,763 internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $286,969 to date, The Numbers reported.
Information on the film’s production budget or prints and advertising cost has not been disclosed.
One to One: John & Yoko was given an 89% “fresh” rating by Rotten Tomatoes critics based on 61 reviews. The RT Critics Consensus for the film reads, “Unearthing fascinating archival materials to provide newfound insight into one of popular culture’s most iconic couples, One to One helps audiences get know John and Yoko better than they could previously imagine.”
In addition, One to One: John & Yoko earned a 91% “fresh” score on RT’s Popcornmeter based on 50-plus verified user ratings.
One to One: John & Yoko isn’t the only documentary about an iconic musical act to hit the big screen this year.
In February, Becoming Led Zeppelin — featuring the classic rock group’s members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham — was released in IMAX before playing in limited release in theaters. Becoming Led Zeppelin made its PVOD debut on April 4.
One to One: John & Yoko will arrive on PVOD on May 9.
