‘John Wick’ Documentary ‘Wick Is Pain’ With Keanu Reeves New On Streaming – How To Watch

Wick is Pain — a documentary featuring Keanu Reeves about the John Wick franchise — arrives on streaming Friday.

John Wick was released in 2014 and grew into a cultural phenomenon with three more John Wick films and the soon-to-be-released spinoff movie From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas and Reeves in a supporting role.

Wick is Pain, meanwhile, chronicles how the film franchise nearly never came to be. The official summary for the documentary reads, “Wick is Pain is the incredible true story behind the John Wick franchise, starring Keanu Reeves. What began as an independent film — facing numerous obstacles, including financing challenges — quickly evolved into a global phenomenon that redefined the action genre and launched three megahit sequels.

“Join Keanu Reeves, director Chad Stahelski and the extended Wick cast and crew as they go behind the scenes of this billion-dollar franchise that almost never happened.”

Chad Stahelski And Keanu Reeves Are Gearing Up For ‘John Wick 5’

The most recent film in the John Wick franchise, 2023’s John Wick: Chapter 4, seemed to spell the end for Keanu Reeves’ iconic assassin character — that is, until Lionsgate announced at CinemaCon in April that John Wick 5 was in the works.

While the plot of John Wick 5 likely won’t be revealed for quite some time, franchise director Chad Stahelski promised in a recent interview with Empire Magazine that the new film will have one distinct difference from the first four John Wick films.

“The saga of John Wick was pretty wrapped up,” Stahelski told Empire. “So the only way to do a 5 is to have a new story that involves John Wick. It’s not a continuation, with the High Table. John dealt with his grief. It will be really different, and everybody [will] see the trailer and go, ‘Holy f— … I gotta see that.’”

Fans, of course, won’t have to wait long to see Reeves as John Wick again because From the World of John Wick: Ballerina is set between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4, Empire Magazine noted.

Directed by Jeffrey Doe and executive produced by Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski, Wick is Pain is new on PVOD on Friday.
