Jisoo’s ‘Flower’ Is Now The Highest-Charting Hit In Canadian History By A Korean Solo Female

Jisoo, one of the four members of the South Korean girl group Blackpink, is having a breakthrough week as a solo star. Her single “Flower” is making waves
waves
on charts around the world, including in Canada. In fact, Jisoo is making history in the northern nation thanks to the success of “Flower,” as it has flowered (pun intended) high enough to separate her from all other women from her home country.

“Flower” debuts at No. 30 on this week’s Canadian Hot 100, which ranks the 100 most-consumed songs in Canada using a methodology that includes sales, streams, and radio play. This impressive debut is a historic starting point for the singer, as it now stands as the highest-charting song by a South Korean solo female musician in Canadian history.

This achievement is particularly significant, as Jisoo’s fellow Blackpink band member, Rosé, previously held this record. Two years ago, Rosé launched her debut single “On the Ground” on the Canadian Hot 100, and it peaked at No. 35, becoming the first top 40 hit for a solo female artist from South Korea. Now, Jisoo has earned just
just
the second placement in that important region among artists from the Asian territory.

“Flower” was released as the single from Jisoo’s debut solo collection, which is simply titled Me. The set only features two songs, and thus it is not eligible for charting purposes in many Western nations. However, the track itself has become a hit in a number of markets, including the U.K. and Canada. Though it didn’t reach the Hot 100 in America, “Flower” did open inside the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart, showing that there is real interest in the cut.
