Jimmie Johnson Set To Return To Nascar In 2024 With AdventHealth

Seven-time Nascar Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson is set to return to the seat of the No. 84 car for Legacy Motor Club in 2024.

The semi-retired Nascar legend will compete in at least three races, the team announced on Tuesday. AdventHealth, which previously partnered with Trackhouse Racing and Chip Ganassi Racing, will move over to sponsor Johnson in three races. The healthcare firm will also sponsor Erik Jones’ No. 43 car in six races in 2024.

“This is a wonderful day for Legacy M.C.,” Johnson said in a statement. “AdventHealth believes health should be measured in terms of the whole person — body, mind and spirit. This partnership is a natural fit for our club and I know we will do great things together. I can’t wait for this season to get started.”

Johnson will compete in the AdventHealth colors at Texas Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and in the AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway. The firm will be featured on Jones’ car in the Daytona 500.

“We are thrilled to partner with Legacy Motor Club and drivers Erik Jones and Jimmie Johnson and are looking forward to a winning 2024 race season,” Terry Shaw, president and CEO of AdventHealth, said. “AdventHealth has been a sponsor in the sport since 2015 and we appreciate the opportunity to provide care for this team and the passionate Nascar fan base. Together, we can make a tremendous impact in our communities and ensure more people have the opportunity to access whole-person care.”

AdventHealth sponsored Ross Chastain in six races in 2023 and in nine races in 2022.

In October, NBC Sports’ Dustin Long reported Johnson will likely compete in the 2024 Daytona 500, as well as the Chicago Street Race and the return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. However, those races were not announced in Tuesday’s schedule released by the team.

In 2024, Legacy Motor Club will join the Toyota Racing family as a second major team alongside Joe Gibbs Racing. The two-car team will have John Hunter Nemechek will pilot the No. 42 car in 2024. When Johnson makes his 2024 season debut, it will mark the first time in his Cup career that he has driven a car other than a Chevrolet.

Johnson made three starts in 2023 with Legacy Motor Club in a car sponsored by Carvana and Club Wyndham.
