BTS member Jimin is enjoying a fantastic week on the Billboard charts thanks to his latest single “Set Me Free Pt. 2.” The tune reaches multiple rankings this time around, including opening at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart, a weekly ranking of the bestselling tracks in the United States.
“Set Me Free Pt. 2” outpaces every other title on the sales-only ranking by a significant margin. It begins its time on the Digital Song Sales chart at No. 1 thanks to 62,500 purchases, according to data shared by Luminate, which powers the ranking. That’s not just enough to send it right to the top, but to outsell the rest of the tracks inside the top five combined.
The entire top five on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart is occupied by debuts from several different acts. Taylor Swift fills many of those spots with her surprise drops, which she announced just before her The Eras Tour began. Her latest offering “All of the Girls You Loved Before” launches at No. 2 with 17,500 copies sold.
Tom Macdonald and John Rich’s “End of the World” debuts at No. 3 with just over 13,400. They break up Swift’s winning streak, but she’s not far behind.
Meanwhile, fellow Swift cuts “If This Was A Movie (Taylor’s Version)” and “Safe & Sound (Taylor’s Version)” with Joy Williams and John Paul White make their debuts at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. Both tracks sold between 11,000 and 11,500 copies each.
Despite the impressive competition, Jimin’s new solo smash easily outsold even the most popular of Swift’s latest offerings. “Set Me Free Pt. 2” racked up three and a half times as many sales as “All of the Girls You Loved Before.” That’s a notable accomplishment, as Swift is the queen of the Digital Song Sales chart. Throughout her years as a star, she’s earned more No. 1s–25 in total–than anyone else.
“Set Me Free Pt. 2” earns the third-largest sales week of the year for a No. 1 hit on the Digital Song Sales chart. Currently, Beyoncé’s “Cuff It” holds the record for the biggest single-week sales sum. That cut rose to the peak with 78,000 sales. Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” is steady in second place, as it once debuted atop the ranking with 70,000 sales.
