BTS member Jimin has made his mark on the U.K. songs chart once again, this time hitting a new high with his latest single, “Like Crazy.” The track debuts at No. 8 this week, making it Jimin’s first top 10 hit as a solo artist. This marks the second week in a row that Jimin has debuted a new single on the U.K. songs chart, and he is now in a league (almost) all his own because of his latest offering’s immediate success.
Jimin has now charted three songs under his own moniker in the U.K., tying him with two other South Korean solo artists as the most successful from his home country. He accomplished this feat entirely in 2023 alone, making this an extremely productive year for him.
The South Korean singer and songwriter’s first appearance on the U.K.’s weekly tally was in January alongside Taeyang, as their joint single “Vibe” debuted at No. 96.
Last week, Jimin earned his first entirely solo hit in the U.K. with “Set Me Free Pt. 2,” which opened and peaked at No. 30. With “Like Crazy,” Jimin has now snagged his best placement and an important third charting hit in the U.K.
Looking only at South Korean solo musicians, Jimin is now on the same level as both Psy and his BTS bandmate Jung Kook. Psy was the first of the bunch to chart in the U.K., achieving the feat over a decade ago with “Gangnam Style,” which rose to No. 1 on the ranking. He returned shortly after that win with “Gentleman,” another top 10. Just when it looked like his moment was over in the country, he and Suga joined forces for “That That,” which made it to No. 61 in 2022.
Fellow BTS superstar J-Hope has also charted three songs on the U.K. songs chart. He and Becky G collaborated on “Chicken Noodle Soup” in 2018, which reached No. 82. He returned in 2022 with “Hope,” which remains his only entirely solo win on the U.K. ranking. Just a few weeks ago, J-Hope and rapper J. Cole released their single “On The Street,” which broke into the top 40, rising to No. 37.
