BTS musician Jimin dominates several Billboard charts this week with his new single “Like Crazy.” The tune debuts at No. 1 on several lists, thanks to a massive first-week sales sum. Interestingly, that one cut isn’t the only successful track from the star this week, and he matches some of his bandmates with a pair of new hits.
As “Like Crazy” opens atop the Digital Song Sales chart, another Jimin tune also opens inside the top 10. “Face-Off” launches at No. 8 on the tally, which ranks the tracks that actually sold the most copies in the U.S. in the prior tracking frame, instead of focusing on streams or radio play.
Jimin has now reached the top 10 on the Digital Song Sales chart five times on his own. With a fourth and fifth win arriving this week, he is now tied with both Suga and J-Hope–also of BTS fame–for the most placements inside the top tier among South Korean solo artists.
Before “Like Crazy” and “Face-Off” opened inside the top 10, Jimin was tied with another BTS musician, Jung Kook, for the fourth-most wins in that arena. By collecting two more at once, Jimin leapfrogs over yet another BTS member, RM, on this all-time ranking.
Jimin actually replaces himself atop the Digital Song Sales chart this week. Last frame, “Set Me Free Pt. 2” debuted in first place. Now, that track has been pushed down to No. 5, which means Jimin claims three of the top 10 spaces on the ranking this time around.
When looking at all South Korean musical acts, the ranking changes slightly, and several more names are included. BTS leads the charge among all musical entities from that nation in terms of the most Digital Song Sales chart top 10s, as the septet has sent 32 tracks into that region. Jimin and his friends Suga and J-Hope come next, and they’re also tied with girl group Blackpink, with five wins apiece.
“Like Crazy” easily conquers the Digital Song Sales chart this week, as it sold a whopping 241,000 copies in its debut week. That is by far the largest sales frame of 2023. It’s also a sizable enough number to push the single straight to No. 1 on the Hot 100, where Jimin becomes the first South Korean solo musician to rule that ranking.
All three of the songs–“Like Crazy,” “Set Me Free Pt. 2” and “Face-Off”–are featured on Jimin’s debut solo EP Face. The set opens at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 this week.
