Jimin Breaks His Tie With BTS Bandmate Jung Kook With His Latest No. 1 Single

Jimin’s new single “Like Crazy” has reached the No. 1 spot on several Billboard charts this week, thanks largely to its massive debut sales sum. The tune blasts in atop the Digital Song Sales ranking with the largest sales sum of the year, bringing the BTS singer back to the top of the tally.

As “Like Crazy” opens in first place, Jimin has become the most successful solo artist from South Korea in at least one regard, breaking out of a tie with one of his bandmates.

“Like Crazy” has already made a huge impact in the United States, selling 241,000 copies in its debut frame. This makes it the bestselling tune in the country, as well as the first track to sell at least 100,000 copies in a week thus far in 2023.

This latest hit marks Jimin’s third No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart on his own, which makes him the solo star from South Korea with the most leaders on the purchase-only list. Before this week, he was tied with fellow BTS musician Jung Kook, as both had reached the summit twice.

Jimin’s first No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart came to him in mid-2022 when he joined fellow South Korean musician Ha Sung-woon on the tune “With You.” It was the first chart-topper for both acts, at least as soloists.

The BTS powerhouse’s solo career continued to flourish, as he collected his first truly solo No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart just
just
last week with his single “Set Me Free Pt. 2.” That cut debuted atop the list with nearly 70,000 pure purchases. In doing so, he matched Jung Kook for the most dominators among solo South Korean acts.

Now, Jimin has not only snagged another leader, but he’s landed the biggest winner of his career so far. He also replaces himself at No. 1 on the chart, which is a feat typically reserved for major players in the music industry.

When looking at all South Korean musical acts–not just solo artists–Jimin is now alone in second place among those who have accrued several No. 1s on the Digital Song Sales chart. Leading the way is BTS, who has sent 11 different cuts to the peak position, which is one of the most impressive totals among all acts. Of course, those also count in Jimin’s discography, so he has now landed 14 number ones on the ranking.
