Jewelry From Film And TV Valued By Sydney And Hatton Garden-Based Jewelers

U.K.-based Hatton Garden jeweler, Queensmith, has been used by Confused.com to rank the most expensive pieces of jewelry from movies and television series based on value.

The lists recognize both fictional and real jewelry, using precise assumptions for fictional pieces by valuing each element and converting it to real-world amounts.

Unsurprisingly, coming in at number one is the film-famous Heart of the Ocean worn by Kate Winslet’s character Rose in the film Titanic.

The Hatton Garden jeweler remarked that if the piece was real it would be worth in the realm of $500 million. Predominantly due to the 56-carat blue diamond in the middle of the piece.

The top 5 list of pieces in movies was finalized as:

Titanic – Heart of the Ocean necklace – $500,750,000

Ocean’s Eight – The Toussaint Cartier necklace – $150,000,000

Death on the Nile – 128-carat yellow diamond necklace – $30,000,000

Television

For the sector of television, the numbers in value dramatically decrease with Gossip Girl and The Crown sharing the top spot.

On the accuracy of the list, Michael Fallah Founder and CEO of jewelry company Michael Arthur Diamonds based in Sydney, Australia said: “Valuations seem about right. It’s difficult to value fictional pieces but if you have the correct details on what the piece features then you can be fairly accurate.”

Winning the award of Most Innovative Jewelers at the APAC Business Awards in 2021, Fallah has a unique connection with celebrities in the entertainment industry.

“We’ve been lucky enough to be able to create some amazing pieces for Australian celebrities but it would be a dream to be able to see our jewelry on some of Hollywood’s elite stars on the red carpet,” he remarked.

He continued, “I also want to cater to the growing demand for lab-grown diamonds which I think will become equally as popular as natural diamonds. Celebrities we have created pieces for include Tayla Damir from Love island (engagement ring), Martha Kalifatidis from Married at First Sight (necklace and dress ring), Angie Kent from Bachelorette (rings), Mitchell Ovral (rings and chains), Chloe Szep (rings and diamond bracelet), Renee herbert (rings), Francesca Hung, the E News host (earrings), Elie Gonsalves from Big Brother (rings), and Brooke Burton from Bachelorette (earrings and rings).

Celebrities and bringing their buying process online were big parts of the growth of the company through and post the COVID pandemic.

Fallah said, “Launching a jewelry company from the ground up is expensive. Most firms are family-owned or have been around for years with large institutional investors. Over the past eight years, we’ve grown and fortunately gotten bigger clients. I invested my savings, I had no other help.”

“With the business making a larger profit each year I was able to create a larger boutique, where I employed a growing team and invested in diamonds that I could have in stock for my clients to view. Now the business stocks over $20 million in diamonds.”

He concluded, “In 2020 we generated $2.65 million and grew to $5.2 million in 2021. So far we’ve made $7 million in 2022.”

Connections between film and TV and the jewelry industry have been developing for some time now, with both parties seemingly recognizing the value of the other.
