Throughout the years, Jelly Roll has released music in almost every genre. For years before he became well-known, he focused on hip-hop albums. It wasn’t until he pivoted to a blend of country and rock that he found greater success, which allowed him to also create tunes that lean into pop, especially some of his collaborations.
Jelly is back with another new team-up, one which sees him working with one of the hottest names in electronic music to score a brand new top 10 hit in America.
Jelly Roll and Marshmello
Jelly recently joined Marshmello on the DJ and producer’s track “Holy Water.” The helmeted star is mysterious, and like Jelly, has scored hits on a variety of Billboard charts. “Holy Water” opens on three rankings this frame, and while it’s just getting started, it’s clear that this may be another cross-genre smash for the two musicians.
“Holy Water” Debuts Inside the Top 10
“Holy Water” earns its loftiest debut on the Country Digital Song Sales chart. On that roster, the track starts at No. 6, earning Jelly his eighteenth top 10. Marshmello has only landed on the list with three tracks, and all of them have entered the highest tier as well.
A New Hot Country Songs Chart Smash
The same tune performed well enough in its first tracking period to appear on the Hot Country Songs chart, the all-encompassing ranking of the most consumed tunes in the style in America. Sales factor into where a title settles in on the list, but it’s not built solely around purchases. The Hot Country Songs chart, like all of Billboard’s Hot-labeled lists, is generated using a methodology that blends sales, streaming activity, and radio airplay. This week, “Holy Water” enters at No. 29.
“Holy Water” Is Also a Pop Radio Smash
“Holy Water” also becomes a radio win, but interestingly, not in the country space. Instead, Marshmello and Jelly start their collaboration at No. 35 on the Adult Pop Airplay roster, one of three Billboard charts dedicated to pop radio stations.
On that tally, Marshmello has racked up more than twice as many hits as Jelly. The electronic musician earns his fifteenth placement on the list, while Jelly has snagged just seven.
Jelly Roll’s Four Country Bestsellers
As “Holy Water” debuts, Jelly fills four spaces on the Country Digital Song Sales chart. The ranking only features 15 slots, so that’s quite a bit of real estate for one name. “Holy Water” marks his biggest win at the moment as it appears one rung ahead of “Hard Fought Hallelujah” with Brandon Lake. “Amen” with Shaboozey dips to No. 9, while “I Am Not Okay” returns to the ranking at No. 13 after spending more than a year on the tally.
