Jannik Sinner Fires Back At Alexander Zverev Over Carlos Alcaraz Conspiracy Theory

World No. 2 Jannik Sinner fired back at Alexander Zverev over his conspiracy theory about the Italian and world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz.

Zverev recently said tournament directors were deliberately slowing down playing surfaces to favor Sinner and Alcaraz so they would meet in the finals.

“I hate when it’s the same, to be honest,” the German said.

Asked about the comments at the Shanghai Masters, Sinner was initially caught off guard and confused.

“Wow. I don’t know what to say on that one to be honest,” he said.

Later, in press, Sinner added these thoughts.

“You know, me and Carlos, we don’t make the courts. It’s not our decision. We try to adapt ourself in every situation. I feel like still every week is a bit different. I’ve played some great tennis even when it was faster courts. But I’m not making the courts, you know, so I just try to adapt and play my best tennis I can, and that’s it.”

Sinner and Zverev are both currently playing Shanghai, while Alcaraz withdrew after winning the Japan Open over Taylor Fritz last week.

Sinner and Alcaraz have combined to win the last eight Grand Slam titles, while Zverev has never won a major.

Alcaraz beat Sinner in four sets last month to win the US Open in a match watched by President Donald Trump.
