Jack Grealish Is Back To His Best As Everton’s New Main Man

At the end of a second straight win in the Premier League, Jack Grealish went into the crowd of travelling Everton fans to take the acclaim for another eye-catching performance. The Toffees deserved their 3-2 victory at Wolves. If anything, it flattered the home side and Grealish was the best player on the pitch.

Grealish has looked back to his best in his first few appearances for Everton since joining the Merseyside club on loan from Manchester City. The 29-year-old has registered four assists in just three appearances, setting up Beto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for goals at Molineux on Saturday.

Everton needed someone like Grealish. The summer transfer window has been a challenging one for the Toffees with David Moyes publicly calling for more signings to be made before the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season. Grealish arrived and the picture immediately brightened.

“He is even better than I thought,” said Moyes after Grealish’s display against Wolves. “He probably needs a bit of love and attention. He needs the games as well. Hopefully he starts building on it and he gets even better as the season goes on. He is making a big difference. Whether it is his assists, his presence, lots of things. So all credit to him. He is playing the minutes he may not have had in recent years.”

At Manchester City, Grealish had lost his way. For one reason or another, the verve had disappeared from his play. While Grealish was an important member of Pep Guardiola’s squad for a number of seasons, the 29-year-old clearly needed a new challenge and a change of scenery this summer.

Hill Dickinson Stadium is that new scenery for Grealish and the 29-year-old reflects the new era that Everton has moved into since leaving Goodison Park at the end of last season. This is a club that has endured more than its fair share of doom and gloom in recent times. Grealish embodies renewed optimism.

Having won two of its opening three league fixtures, Everton is finally looking up the Premier League table after years of worrying about relegation. Moyes’ squad still has holes in it. While the Scottish coach has spoken about challenging for European qualification, that might be beyond the Toffees this term.

Nonetheless, there is a belief that Everton can move forward this season and Grealish is the player more than any other who has the ability to make a genuine impact on the rest of the Premier League. The 29-year-old is making up for lost time and he’s having fun again.
