IVE Continue To Show Their Global Promise With Second Single ‘Love Dive’

After eyeing IVE as a new girl group with international potential last year, the sextet is back with new music that makes good on their global promise with the new single “Love Dive.”

With less than one week out since its release, “Love Dive” has seen impressive metrics. The song debuted in the Top 10 of Korea’s main singles chart and Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart. The song also managed to enter both the Billboard Global 200 and the Billboard Global Excl. US charts. At press time, the official music video has more than 55 million views since its April 5th unveiling.

But beyond the numbers, IVE continue to show exciting artistic progress. While their introductory track focused on finding love and inspiration from someone else, this new single is more balanced in recognizing one’s greatness and the excitement of seeing it reciprocated by someone else. Plus, members Rei Gaeul co-wrote the new b-side track “Royal” which points to the group’s potential songwriting chops and honors the ongoing message of self-respect as the track speaks to self-respect and kindness to boost one’s confidence. Altogether, “Love Dive” feels like the perfect step in the progression from the group’s debut single “Eleven.”

The accompanying visuals for “Love Dive” also see Gaeul, Rei, Yujin, Liz, Wonyoung and Leeseo embracing an exciting-yet-relatable sophistication. We’ve seen the group embrace fashion that ranges from spot-on trendy (like the viral looks of the Miu Miu set) to putting their spin on classic looks (like outfits that mix bejeweled U.S. prep school wear, South Korean school uniforms and looks from the set of Netflix’s Elite).

This all lends itself to exciting international moves in IVE’s future, which the members have hinted to be in motion. During a media showcase ahead of the release of Love Dive, Wonyoung shared how there has been interest and “love calls” for the group from different potential overseas partners. While she added that the sextet’s focus remains on their performances and fans, no doubt bigger things are brewing for IVE.
