I like it when two worlds collide, and in this instance, we have a lovely intersection of culinary delight and pop culture.
Suppose you’re a true fan of pop culture and TV shows. It’s hard to think about Thanksgiving dinner or what to do with leftovers without reminiscing about Season 5, Episode 9 of the beloved sitcom Friends, titled “The One with Ross’s Sandwich.”
In this episode, Monica creates a sandwich from Thanksgiving leftovers called The Moist Maker, which is even featured in Friends: The Official Cookbook, released in 2020. The true highlight of this episode comes from Ross’s delightful admiration for the Moist Maker, followed by his amusing frustration when he learns that his boss took his sandwich from the office fridge. The secret to what makes this sandwich so delightful is the lovely touch of a gravy-soaked slice of bread nestled right in the middle.
Firehouse Subs Captures Thanksgiving In One Bite
There are so many fun and tasty ways to enjoy your Thanksgiving leftovers so they don’t go to waste, like making soup, casserole, or pot pies. But after watching that famous episode of Friends—and one of my favorite series, Binging With Babish, recreating the Moist Maker—I genuinely believe there’s no better way to enjoy leftovers than with a delicious Thanksgiving sandwich.

Albeit simple, I wasn’t feeling quite as ambitious to make a full spread just to give this sammy a go. Thankfully, a few weeks ago, Firehouse Subs joyfully reintroduced a beloved seasonal delight—the Thanksgiving Turkey Sub. Imagine layers of tender turkey breast slices, savory stuffing, and tangy cranberry sauce, all nestled together on a warm, toasted bun. I found the mayo a bit out of place with the rest, so I skipped it, but everyone has their own perfect way to enjoy this tasty sub!
What really made this sandwich stand out were the generous, thick slices of seasoned turkey, not just thin deli cuts. The toasted bread, although warm and crispy, remained soft enough to bite into comfortably and was sturdy enough to keep all the tasty ingredients together without any slipping out as you ate.

You get a cup of warm garlic gravy on the side to dip your sandwich into. All in all, it was delicious, warm, cozy, and comforting bits of Thanksgiving in each bite.
Now here’s the kicker…you’ll have to get to your nearest store quickly! I’ve received a variety of responses from different stores regarding how long this sandwich will be around. Most are saying it will be available until Thanksgiving or the end of November. So, why not stop by your local Firehouse Subs this weekend while you’re out doing your Black Friday shopping? It’s a great chance to give it a try!
Give The New Mac And Cheese A Try, Too!
While you’re there, don’t just settle for the Thanksgiving Turkey Sub. Be sure to try their new Extra Cheesy Mac & Cheese, which features a mix of American, cheddar, Neufchatel, Monterey Jack, Queso, and asadero cheeses with cavatappi noodles. I didn’t anticipate it being topped with shredded cheese, but it blends well with the hot noodles, enhancing their creaminess.
