The Diablo IV beta kicks off this weekend, but not everyone can join the fray, slaughtering demons and exploring the first section of Blizzard’s highly-anticipated upcoming action-RPG.
The two-weekend beta is split into two halves. Part 1 is Early Access only, while the second weekend opens up to everybody. You can see the start-times and everything else you need to know about the beta weekends right here.
The easiest way for fans of Diablo to play in the Early Access beta is to pre-order the game on PC, Xbox or PlayStation. This gets you an Early Access beta code and you’re off to the races. However, if you don’t want to pre-order but still want in, there are other ways.
One way is a bit unorthodox: Order a sandwich from KFC. Not just any sandwich, mind you, but one that has the Diablo Early Access banner (which is super obvious when you get to the KFC website or app). It looks like this:
See how the middle one has the banner and the other two don’t? Pick that one! Order it and you’ll get a code in your email not long after. Don’t have a Kentucky Fried Chicken nearby? Order a pickup and then . . . don’t pick it up. Sure, you lose the sandwich but you get Early Access to the Diablo IV beta! You could also order a meal for someone who lives near a KFC and just keep the code. Is there a Good Samaritan class in Diablo IV?
Alternatively, you can pre-order and play the beta and then cancel your pre-order if you don’t like it. Or just wait until the second beta weekend. I’m very much looking forward to the game. I haven’t played Diablo in ages and while there are plenty of reasons to be skeptical of Blizzard these days, I’m still excited.
As always, I’d love it if you’d follow me here on this blog and subscribe to my YouTube channel and my Substack so you can stay up-to-date on all my TV, movie and video game reviews and coverage. Thanks!
