The Houston Astros won the 2022 World Series, and the world is abuzz about shortstop Jeremy Peña, beloved manager Dusty Baker and Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, the Houston furniture magnate who won roughly $75 million with a group of bets on the Astros. And rightfully so.
But there’s another notable name worth mentioning: Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, whose $160,000 bottle of Le Chemin du Roi Champagne you can see pictured alongside Peña and the World Series trophy.
The team celebrated with $388,000 worth of his spirits following the win.
While McIngvale was placing a $3 million 10:1 wager in May, Jackson was working on a deal between the Astros and his Sire Spirits and G-Unity Foundation.
In September, the MLB announced the partnership, wherein Jackson’s Branson Cognac and Le Chemin du Roi Champagne brands were named the “Official Cognac” and “Premium Champagne” of the Astros.
It was a savvy move, given the compelling plot line of Peña, the rookie shortstop, and Baker, the beloved Astros manager.
For context, Peña won the AL Gold Glove Award and the MVP of the ALC and the World Series, becoming the first person to do so in the same year and the first rookie to hit a home run in the World Series.
Then there’s Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker.
Once teammates with Hank Aaron, the beloved Baker checked every box a baseball legend has to over his fifty-year career. He brought five different teams to the postseason, won division titles across five baseball clubs, and earned more than 1,800 wins as a manager.
Given the Astros’ World Series win and the compelling storylines of Peña, Baker, and McIngvale, all eyes will be on the Astros next year.
This visibility is good news for Jackson’s Sire Spirits, as the 2023 season is when Sire Spirits will have stadium-wide visibility via signage, a rebranded suite, and rotational home plate placement.
A New York native known for his Yankee hat, Jackson picked an excellent time to change teams. Maybe sports management is in the cards for Jackson down the line.
