Dave Paulsen, the former head coach at George Mason and Bucknell, is finalizing a deal to become the next head men’s basketball coach at Holy Cross, according to multiple people with direct knowledge of the situation.
The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Paulsen, 58, spent last season as an assistant at Fordham, which won 25 games and finished second in the Atlantic 10 under coach Keith Urgo.
Prior to that, Paulsen spent five seasons at George Mason and seven at Bucknell. He also coached at Division 3 Williams, Le Moyne and St. Lawrence.
For his career, he is 488-301 (.619).
On March 10, Holy Cross fired Brett Nelson, 42, after he went 27-84 in four seasons at Holy Cross. This season’s 10 wins in the Patriot League were the most of Nelson’s tenure.
