It’s nearly June and we still haven’t heard what games are coming to PlayStation Plus next month.
June is kind of an important month for PS Plus, with the new tiered pricing model launching in the US and elsewhere in the next couple of weeks.
The new tiered system gives subscribers the option of keeping their current subscription with its three (or so) free games each month, or upgrading to two other tiers that include back catalogs from the PlayStations of yore—PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4.
This means that for some subscribers, June will have a plethora of new—old—titles to choose from, though many PS Plus members will likely just keep their current subscription.
So when will we find out about the June PS Plus lineup?
Many people were expecting to find out last Wednesday. After all, the announcement is typically made on the last Wednesday of the month with the new games coming out the following Tuesday.
But that’s not actually how it works. Or, rather, it’s not quite how it works even if that’s usually how it pans out. In fact, the games are always released on the first Tuesday of the month and announced on the previous Wednesday. Since the first Tuesday of June isn’t until next Tuesday—June 7th—that means that the official announcement from Sony won’t happen until tomorrow, June 1st.
Sony usually unveils the next month’s games in the morning on the PlayStation blog. Stay tuned to my blog for all updates, and check out my predictions, leaks and rumors post for further information about potential June PS Plus titles.
There’s also a State Of Play this Thursday so stay tuned for that. Sony is promising 30 minutes of trailers and announcements. I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw something on upcoming Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 during the show.
