Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare II Season 1 is now live, a bit earlier than expected.
This means that a whole bunch of new content is available to dig into, including a new Battle Pass, the revamped map Shoot House (which looks very slick this time around) and a ton of new customization options like Emblems, Calling Cards, Weapon Blueprints and Operator Skins.
Some of these you’ll get in the Battle Pass, some in the Store, and others you’ll unlock through Challenges and play-time.
Here’s the Season Overview:
- Shoot House, Shipment Set for Reimagined Return. Prepare to finish out those camo challenges or just embrace the frantic chaos these action-packed maps provide.
- New Battle Pass, Now with More Player Choice. Conquer a new Battle Pass as you choose map Sectors your way to unlock both free and premium items in whatever order you decide.
- Four Weapons, Six Total Operators. Two new weapon platforms and two Trios — one of elite soldiers and one of football’s finest — are set to bolster your arsenal and Operator roster.
- New Special Ops Mission, Raid Episode 1 In-Season. Grab your Duo and assault the enemy on land and in the air before gearing up for the continuation of the Modern Warfare II story in a daunting Raid experience.
- Seasonal Prestige System. New challenges and rewards await those who clear the Military Ranks.
- Open the CDL Moshpit. Prior to the introduction of Modern Warfare II Ranked Mode in a future Season, practice on the official maps and ruleset with your squad.
Here’s the Battle Pass trailer:
The Battle Pass itself is actually kind of fun. It’s not linear anymore, but rather an overhead map with sectors you can unlock in any order. This is very much like the Fortnite Battle Pass introduced a few seasons back that gives you a little more flexibility on how to unlock items and in which order. You’ll still unlock 100 tiers so if you complete this every season it hardly matters.
Warzone veterans get a nice free bundle of goodies including XP Tokens, Charms and a Knife Blueprint:
Edit: It appears that what you get as a gift depends on how much time you spent in Warzone. Some are ‘Best of the Best’ (like me) while others get ‘A Class Of Your Own’ with different (and apparently fewer!) rewards:
Shoot House is almost identical to the version from Modern Warfare 2019 but with a little more color and smoother textures. It just looks a lot better overall, with more color and better graphics.
The Store is also live, so you can purchase bundles that include some cool new Operators, Weapon Blueprints and other cosmetic items.
Beyond this, Season 1 doesn’t do a lot to change menus or navigation, unfortunately. There’s more to navigate but it’s no less cumbersome. Warzone 2.0 unlocks in just a bit, so stay tuned for that!
