Key Facts
“Euphoria” will start airing its third season in April, HBO said Wednesday afternoon, though it’s unclear which day it will start and how many episodes the season will run for.
The April premiere will end an abnormally long wait between seasons—the new season will premiere more than four years after season two ended, and nearly seven years after the first season premiered.
Few details about the season are known, but HBO released a first-look image of Zendaya reprising her lead role as Rue Bennett, which features the character sitting in the passenger seat of a truck with her feet propped up on the dashboard.
What Do We Know About “euphoria” Season Three?
Much of the main cast is expected to return, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry as series regulars. HBO also announced a slate of new guest stars, including Spanish singer Rosalía, NFL player-turned-actor Marshawn Lynch, Oscar nominee Sharon Stone, Danielle Deadwyler, Natasha Lyonne and social media star Trisha Paytas. The lengthy wait between seasons led viewers to question how the main cast—many of whom are now in their late 20s—would continue to play high schoolers, though showrunner Sam Levinson confirmed at an HBO Max presentation the new season picks up five years after season two, Variety reported. “Five years felt like a natural place because if they’d gone to college they’d be out of college at that time,” Levinson said, stating the series picks up with Zendaya’s character Rue south of the Mexican border in debt to a drug dealer she met in season two. “I feel strongly this is our best season yet,” Levinson said, also confirming Sweeney’s character Cassie will marry Elordi’s character Nate.
