‘Hawkeye’ Actor Assisted Family Member Before Being Run Over By Snow Plow

Jeremy Renner was assisting a family member whose car was stuck in the snow at the time his own snow plow ran him over, according to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, as the Hawkeye actor is in critical condition in an intensive care unit Wednesday while he recovers from surgery for injuries sustained during the incident.

Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said Tuesday Renner had successfully towed the car before exiting his snow plow, which then started to roll, leading to Renner attempting to get back into the driver’s seat to stop the vehicle, but was “run over.”

Renner is recovering from two surgeries performed Monday, Renner’s spokesperson Samantha Mast told CNN, after the actor suffered “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.”

Mast had earlier said Renner was in “critical but stable condition” after being hospitalized following a “weather-related accident” while plowing snow on New Year’s Day, according to the New York Times.

In an Instagram post Tuesday, Renner thanked people for their “kind words” but said he’s “too messed up now to type.”

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a “traumatic injury” at Renner’s home Sunday morning before Renner was airlifted to a nearby hospital, the office said in a statement, adding Renner was the only one injured in the accident.

According to the statement, the county’s Major Accident Investigation Team is looking into the accident, while Balaam added the snow plow driven by Renner is being analyzed by the sheriff’s office for possible mechanical failures.
