Harry Styles may have moved on to promoting other hits, but his single “As It Was” is not done with its time on certain Billboard charts. In fact, the song is still going strong and has recently achieved an important all-time record on one of the most competitive rankings published by the music magazine.
“As It Was” has once again secured a spot on the Pop Airplay chart this week, which ranks the songs that receive the largest audience at pop radio in the United States. This list is known for being difficult to break into and even more challenging to maintain a presence on, given the fierce competition in the pop music landscape.
Impressively, Styles’ single has now racked up a remarkable 61 weeks on the Pop Airplay chart, setting a new record for the most turns spent on the tally in its history, according to Billboard. Previously, “As It Was” was tied with The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” with both songs having managed to stay on the chart for 60 weeks. Now, Styles has now taken the lead and secured his place in the record books.
Although “As It Was” dips slightly from No. 14 to No. 15 this week, the song’s slow descent down the list is pretty incredible. At this rate, Styles may continue to appear on the chart for many more weeks or even months to come. With 40 spaces on the tally, “As It Was” is nowhere close to reaching the bottom.
“As It Was” previously spent seven week reigning at No. 1 on the Pop Airplay chart in 2022. The song initially debuted on the chart in April of that year and has remained a consistent presence ever since.
Interestingly, Styles occupies two spots on the Pop Airplay chart this week. While “As It Was” continues to hold strong within the top 15, his current single, “Satellite,” maintains a steady position at No. 37. Although that is the song’s peak so far, it is likely to climb higher in the future frames, especially as he continues to promote it.
