For just over a decade now, Hamilton has reigned as one of the greatest musical phenomenons, as it is the rare title that’s taken over the Great White Way that also captures the imagination of all Americans, not just those who love musical theater. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s inventive retelling of one of the nation’s earliest stories still sells incredibly well, and people across the country continue to listen to the music regularly, keeping it on multiple Billboard charts.
To celebrate its first decade, a new edition of the Hamilton music, titled Hamilton: 10 Shots (Highlights from the Original Broadway Cast Recording), was recently shared and the album becomes a commercial win this frame. The updated edition even manages to replace the original Hamilton at No. 1 in the U.S., as the appetite for anything connected to the musical seems as great as ever.
Hamilton: 10 Shots Debuts on Multiple Billboard Charts
Hamilton: 10 Shots debuts on four Billboard charts this frame. It immediately leads the Cast Albums tally, where the first Hamilton set can usually be found running the show.
Hamilton: 10 Shots Replaces the Original Hamilton at No. 1
A revised edition of the original Broadway cast recording starting at No. 1 on the Cast Albums chart is impressive, but not necessarily shocking, especially for anything attached to Hamilton. What is most impressive about the early performance of the release is that it replaces Hamilton at No. 1 on the roster. Two versions of Hamilton now occupy the highest two spaces on the ranking.
Hamilton: 10 Shots Launches Inside the Top 10 on Several Lists
Hamilton: 10 Shots also starts off its time inside the top 10 on another two Billboard-ranked lists. In addition to the Cast Albums chart, the shortened release opens at No. 3 on the Vinyl Albums ranking and No. 6 on the Top Album Sales list, entering with 11,000 pure purchases, according to Luminate.
Hamilton: 10 Shots Debuts on the Billboard 200
On the Billboard 200, the list of the most consumed projects of any kind or length in the nation, Hamilton: 10 Shots begins at No. 28. Amazingly, the original Hamilton — which this period falls several dozen spots to No. 69 — appeared higher than the just-released product only a few days ago. Hamilton slips from No. 24, several positions above where Hamilton: 10 Shots arrives this frame.

Speaking of the original Hamilton, the original Broadway cast recording recently celebrated its first decade across several Billboard rosters. As of this period, Hamilton is up to 528 stays on both the Cast Albums chart and the Billboard 200, the only two U.S. rankings where it can currently be found. That is one of the greatest runs of all time for any Broadway-connected recording, and certainly for a set that can also be classified as hip-hop.
Three Hamilton Albums Have Reached the Billboard 200
There have now been three separate Hamilton albums that have made it to the Billboard 200 throughout the years. The original cast recording peaked at No. 2, while The Hamilton Mixtape made history when it found its way to No. 1. Despite its lofty starting point, Hamilton: 10 Shots is now the lowest-peaking of the bunch.
What Music is Featured on Hamilton: 10 Shots?
The compilation features 10 tracks Miranda selected himself that he feels maintain the show’s general narrative, while also shining a spotlight on the vocal talents of the original cast members. The tracklist includes fan favorites like “Alexander Hamilton,” “Satisfied,” “The Room Where It Happens,” and, of course, “My Shot,” where the compilation gets its name.
