Tokyo-based marketing and innovation company, Hakuhodo Inc. has announced that it is set to commence its web3 Global Hackathon 2023.

Scheduled to start on Saturday, September 30, the hackathon will be held by Hakuhodo’s web3 service provider dedicated to executing web3 hackathons, HAKUHODO KEY3 INC.

Notably, the event schedule spans from September 4 to November 24, with the official kickoff on September 30 and development activities running until November 24. Furthermore, a North American Mazda event with details still enclosed will be announced separately for October 28. The deadline for project submissions is set for 23:59 JST on November 24, while the teams for the pitch round will be unveiled on December 1. The grand finale pitch event is scheduled for December 9, where prize-winning teams will be announced.

Signaling the company’s commitment to fostering the advancement of the web3 community, the hackathon promises exclusive benefits to participants from all around the world. 

HAKUHODO KEY3 Collaborates Mazda and Mitsubishi Estate to Run Web3 Global Hackathon 

According to the announcement, HAKUHODO KEY3 has partnered with Mazda Motor Corporation Co.Ltd., to combine efforts towards the successful running of the hackathon. This will make the 2023 web3 global hackathon the second in a series of hackathons to run in partnership with sponsor companies.

Notably, the hackathon has been triggered by Hakuhodo’s mission to originate web3 services in Japan using sei-katsu-sha insight and creativity. Hence, the company has invited engineers, creators, business developers, designers, and marketers from around the world to become a part of the big event.

While this is not its first, HAKUHODO KEY3 has been seen holding hackathons like this prior to the unveiling of the web3 Global Hackathon 2023. Nonetheless, HAKUHODO KEY3 has revealed it is organizing this hackathon to explore innovative experiences and services that can seamlessly integrate web3 into people’s daily lives, with a particular focus on sei-katsu-sha – the company’s term for consumers who seek deeper connections with products and services.

While the global hackathon has invited engineers and creators from around the world to participate, it boasts unique themes reflecting the expertise of its partners, Mazda and Mitsubishi Estate, with enticing prizes up for grabs. 

Mazda’s theme, “Drive to Earn, Use for Fun,” challenges participants to create the world’s first web3 service that enhances the joy of driving, targeting both drivers and passengers. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Estate’s theme, “DAO Building in Tokyo,” aims to leverage web3 technology to transform Tokyo Station and its surrounding area into a reputable web3 city, facilitating organic connections within the TOKYO TORCH district.

To encourage potential participants, it revealed that winning teams will receive not only financial incentives but also investment, joint development opportunities, and ongoing support from the collaborating companies to bring their web3 services to the wider society. The hackathon boasts an array of enticing prizes, including the Mazda Grand Prize of 3 million yen equivalent in , multiple Excellence Prizes, and the Mitsubishi Estate Grand Prize, among others.
