Greater China Stock Exchanges Closed For May Day Holiday

Stock exchanges in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan will be closed on Monday, May 1 for a May Day holiday.

Mainland China’s stock exchanges will also be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday of the coming week. They will reopen on Thursday, May 4.

Investors looking to trade Chinese shares on breaking news can look to the U.S., where listed mainland-listed businesses include e-commerce sites such as Alibaba, JD.com and PDD, as well as online travel company Ctrip.

On Friday, shares of Nasdaq-traded small-cap TOP Financial, a Hong Kong-headquartered brokerage, skyrocketed by 441%, enough to make TOP’s founder and chairwoman Junli Yang a new billionaire with an estimated net worth of $1.8 billion.
