Gravitas Ventures Acquires ‘Seriously Red’

Gravitas Ventures had picked up the North American rights to Seriously Red Deadline reports. The film premiered at SXSWXSW
and stars Rose Byrne. Gravitas is planning a first quarter 2023 release for the musical comedy film.

The film was written and also stars Krew Boylan. She is joined in the cast by Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Daniel Webber, Celeste Barber, Thomas Campbell, Jean Kittson, Wayne Blair, Todd Lasance, Sarah Su, Sophia Forrest and Rarriwuy Hick.

The musical follows Red, played by Boylan, who is tired of her real estate career, so she becomes a Dolly Parton impersonator. The film follows her on a path of confidence, self-discovery and romance. She is joined by Byrne’s Elvis impersonator character and Cannavale’s Neil Diamond. The film also features Dolly Parton songs.

Gravitas is proud to bring this film to theaters and VOD early next year. We know audiences will love the film as much as we do,” said Gravitas Ventures’ Senior Director of Acquisitions, Bill Guentzler. Guentzler negotiated the deal with CAA Media Finance on behalf of the filmmakers.

Seriously Red comes from Dollhouse Pictures. Dollhouse Pictures is an independent production company founded by Byrne, Boylan, Jessica Carrera, Shannon Murphy and Otto. The company says it “prioritizes female-driven storytelling and collaborates with emerging and experienced creatives.” Seriously Red is the first full-length film to come out of Dollhouse Pictures and they have several other announced projects, including TV and film upcoming.

Seriously Red was also produced by Robyn Kershaw, Jessica Carrera, Sonia Borella, Timothy White and executive produced by Byrne, Danny Nozell, Jack Christian, DJ McPherson, Gary Hamilton, Michelle Krumm, Ying Ye, Deanne Weir, Olivia Humphrey, Steven Scharkss and Clare Ainsworth Herschell.
