Bard will be powered by Google’s LaMDA
On Monday, Google confirmed that its artificial intelligence chatbot it’s calling “Bard” will be available soon to “trusted testers” before it’s rolled out to the broader audience.

Bard will use Google’s Language Model for Dialogue Application (LaMDA) to rival ChatGPT that recently secured a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar investment from Microsoft as part of its broader push to challenge Google’s monopoly in internet search.
ChatGPT has already surpassed 100 million users to become the fasted growing internet app ever.

Google also confirmed that Bard will initially run on a “lightweight” version of LaMDA and, therefore, will need much less computing power. Its blog post also reads:

The tech behemoth is also in the process of cutting about 12,000 employees to better prepare for the coming recession. Shares of Alphabet Inc are currently up 15% versus the start of the year.
