Google Set to Unveil Pixel 8, 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2 – Cryptopolitan

Google’s annual Made by Google event is fast approaching, with tech enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the launch of the latest Pixel devices and the Pixel Watch 2. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 4th, at 10 a.m. Eastern Time (ET) and will take place in New York City, with live streaming available on Google’s YouTube channel. Pixel 8 and 8 Pro unveiled

Google has been building anticipation for the event by teasing the upcoming Pixel 8 and 8 Pro smartphones. These new additions to the Pixel lineup are touted as featuring “the most advanced Pixel cameras yet” and harnessing the power of Google AI to enhance user experiences. While Google has revealed the physical appearance of these phones, they have intentionally kept the focus on design rather than revealing all the capabilities.

A leaked video on 91mobiles shared by Kamila Wojciechowska offers a glimpse into the new camera features. These features are said to be driven by “Google AI controlled by you.” The video showcases impressive capabilities, including Video Boost for enhanced video stabilization, exceptional night mode photo processing in low light conditions, and improved audio isolation for video recording. 

Notably, the video demonstrates a unique AI feature allowing users to replace blurry subjects in photos with clear, in-focus versions, showcasing Google’s innovative approach to AI photography.

In terms of specifications, both the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are expected to feature a 48-megapixel main camera. However, they differ in their secondary camera setups. The Pixel 8 comes with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera, while the 8 Pro boasts a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with a new macro focus mode.

 Additionally, both phones sport a 10.5-megapixel front-facing camera, but the 8 Pro’s selfie camera stands out with autofocus, a feature not present in the Pixel 8. The 8 Pro, following the tradition of pro models, includes a third rear camera—a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.

Display and performance

In terms of display, the Pixel 8 is equipped with a 6.2-inch screen, slightly smaller than the 6.3-inch display on the Pixel 7. Google has also enhanced the refresh rate on the Pixel 8’s screen, increasing it to 120Hz from the Pixel 7’s 90Hz. Both phones are expected to be powered by Google’s Tensor G3 chip, promising improved performance and AI capabilities.

One of the most intriguing rumors surrounding the Pixel 8 Pro is the inclusion of a built-in thermometer. Although a video leak on 91Mobiles showcasing this feature has been taken offline, the potential for a contactless thermometer on a smartphone could open doors to innovative health-related applications. While not a first in the smartphone industry, with the 2020 Honor 4 Play Pro featuring a similar sensor, Google’s implementation could bring new possibilities for users concerned about their health and well-being.

As for pricing, it appears that the eighth generation of Pixel phones might come with a slightly higher price tag compared to their predecessors. The base model of the Pixel 8 is expected to retail for $699, while the Pixel 8 Pro’s starting price is set at $999. This represents a $100 increase for both phones, signaling Google’s commitment to delivering premium features and experiences to its customers.

Pixel watch 2 revealed

Alongside the Pixel smartphones, Google has also teased the Pixel Watch 2, which closely resembles its predecessor, the original Pixel Watch. Notable differences include a more streamlined crown design, and a significant upgrade in terms of dust and water resistance, with IP68 certification added to the new model. This enhancement promises durability and usability in various conditions.

For eager customers awaiting these new devices, Google has revealed that preorders for the Pixel Watch 2, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro will commence on October 4th, coinciding with the Made by Google event. This provides an opportunity for early adopters to secure their new Google hardware.
