Google Cloud and Solana Labs have joined hands to advance the segment of Web3 gaming. It will be done via GameShift. The development comes after the presence of the Internet giant at Solana Breakpoint, wherein Google expressed its commitment to help shape the future of gaming, adding that they were proud to be taking the spirit of innovation forward.
GameShift and Google Cloud are both bringing crucial elements to the table. GameShift, for starters, presents five core elements, namely smooth wallet integration, game asset management, pay-in & pay-out system, marketplace functionality, and rewards programs. Google Cloud, on the other hand, is presenting BigQuery Data, Blockchain Node Engine Product, and the Web3 for Startups program.
The ecosystem of Solana has been selected based on the reputation that Solana has established over the years. This is due to its ability to facilitate transactions throughout, maintain an uptime of 99.95%, and handle billions of transactions daily. Moreover, it consistently facilitates decentralized exchange trading and maintains a decent stablecoin volume. The native ecosystem now focuses on improving players’ experience and exploring new revenue channels.
In its official post, Google Cloud stated that they have always relied on blockchain solutions. For all the right reasons, one can assume that the same technology is now enhancing the power of the entire gaming asset economy. This includes item trading, user-generated content, an anti-cheat mechanism, gamer identity, and cross-gaming compatibility, among others. A specific emphasis is placed on the simplification of composability, which is defined as the interaction between on-chain programs from various providers.
Composability simultaneously reduces the cost and complexity associated with its operation. The same mechanism further paves the way for solutions including, but not limited to, guild management, a global player reputation system, and open modding.
Jack Buser, the Director for Games at Google Cloud, emphasized the need to have such a partnership. Jack said that gaming studios were already overburdened, adding that GameShift-like solutions make it easier by taking a simplified approach to technology and cultural interfaces to Web3.
Davis Hart, General Manager at GameShift, said that their goal is to build the project, further stating that they will focus on providing development and player experience that is similar to services that are operational right now except the capabilities would relate to Web3.
Having said that, the ongoing trends in the crypto market significantly influence the price of SOL. Solana tokens are yet to react to the development between GameShift and Google Cloud.Â
Solana was down by 0.31% in the last 24 hours, at the time of writing this article. It is hovering around $146.30, indicating a 10.41% increase in the last 7 days. SOL is speculated to trade at $164.13 in the next 30 days, according to strong near-term projections. That would be a surge of 14.39% from the current value.
Moving forward, the primary focus will be on other aspects that were introduced in Breakpoint 2024, like Solana Mobile, Solana Permissioned Environment, and Tournament Management.
