Golden State Warriors superstar guard Stephen Curry has been diagnosed with a quad contusion and will be out for at least a week according to ESPN’s Anthony Slater.
Curry suffered this injury in a November 26th matchup against the Houston Rockets when he collided with Rockets guard Amen Thompson. Curry exited the game early and an MRI later revealed that he suffered a quad strain, which was a relief for the team.
This injury could not have come at a worse time for Golden State, as they are currently 10-10 and 8th in the western conference. Golden State has not been performing at the level that they envisioned they would before the season, and there has been tension on the team.
Both Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green have publicly voiced their frustrations with the team, going as far as criticising the effort level and the defensive ability of the team as a whole. Stephen Curry is their leading scorer by far, averaging 28 points per game with a 64.1 percent true-shooting percentage. Curry is also shooting the second most threes per game in his career at 12 per game, and he is shooting an unbelievable 39.1 percent on these shots as well. So safe to say, Golden State will be severely hampered without the leader of their offense for the next few games.
