Georgia has hired former Florida coach Mike White to replace Tom Crean, whom the school fired last Thursday.
White, 45, is 243-128 (.655) in his career at Louisiana Tech and Florida, with four NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight in 2017.
Cleveland State’s Dennis Gates and Chattanooga’s Lamont Paris were also in the mix for the job, per ESPN.com. Georgia will pay Florida about $1.25 million in buyout money, per ESPN.
White will have his hands full with the turnaround at his new SEC home. Georgia has not been to the NCAA Tournament since 2015.
Crean went 47-75 in four seasons at the school, finishing 6-26 this season, 1-17 in the SEC.
