Deontay Wilder, Anthony Joshua, and Tyson Fury reportedly have dates for their next fights but aren’t fighting each other.
According to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, Joshua and Wilder will return on Dec. 23. The card will reportedly feature multiple notable heavyweights in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Coppinger also reported the news on Fury’s upcoming unification bout with Oleksandr Usyk.
Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk Will Battle for the Undisputed Title
After Francis Ngannou dropped Fury and narrowly lost a controversial decision to the lineal heavyweight champion, there are many questions are heading into this bout.
Fury was grossly out of shape for the fight with Ngannou, which he probably won’t repeat in preparation for Usyk. However, has Fury taken a step back? Is he still as hungry as he needs to be with Usyk vying for the undisputed title?
Fury will own a massive size and length advantage, but Usyk proved capable of overcoming a bigger opponent in both of his wins over Joshua.
The fight taking place in February would benefit Fury, who may need time to regroup, recover, and train after his subpar outing against Ngannou.
Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder Are Headed For a Clash in 2024
Joshua and Wilder are on a collision course for a big-money fight in Saudi Arabia sometime in 2024, and the December card sets the stage for their clash.
Wilder takes on Joseph Parker in the former’s first fight since he scored a first-round KO win over Robert Helenius in October 2022. Wilder just turned 38 in October, and his sparkling 43-2-1 record is only stained by two losses and a draw to Fury.
Parker is coming off a spectacular KO win in his last fight over Simon Kean on the undercard of Fury vs. Francis Ngannou in October. Parker, 31, is 33-3, and he’s won three fights in a row since being knocked out by Joe Joyce in September 2022. Joshua faces Otto Wallin in what figures to be the main event of the evening.
Joshua scored a seventh-round KO victory over Helenius in August to improve to 26-3. The victory over Helenius was his second in a row since dropping back-to-back decisions to Oleksandr Usyk.
Wallin is 26-1, with his only defeat coming to Fury in September 2019. Expect both shows to be pay-per-view, with Fury’s bout almost certainly being an ESPN broadcast.
Because of Joshua’s deal with Matchroom, his and Wilder’s event will likely be available on DAZN.
