Alexey Pertsev in Custody of Dutch Police
Alexey Pertsev, the founder of Tornado Cash, is married to Ksenia Malik, who has blasted Dutch police for treating him like a dangerous criminal after his detention last week. The Dutch Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD) arrested Pertsev on August 12 for allegedly using Ethereum-based privacy technology to conceal illegal financial movements and launder money.
Malik that Pertsev is still in the custody of Dutch police and that he hasn’t had a chance to get in touch with him since being imprisoned. Malik voiced her worry that Pertsev was taken into custody without cause for what she believed to be a harmless behaviour, saying that he’s kept in prison as if he were a dangerous criminal.
Not even a Quick Call
The Dutch authorities have entirely prohibited her from having any contact with him, not even one quick call, according to Malik, who claimed that she is only able to speculate about how he is feeling and how horrible things are for him right now. Many people have participated in the event she planned for Aug. 20 to support Pertsev and defend developers’ freedom to produce open-source software.
The arrest of Pertsev, according to Decentralized Finance (DeFi) aggregator 1inch, threatens to set a hazardous precedent and might destroy the whole open-source software segment if creators are held accountable for whatever programme they produce that is exploited by others.
In light of 1inch’s endeavours and the greater crypto community, Malik expressed her thanks to everyone who supports and helps her husband, noting that it demonstrates that people actually care. In addition, Malik thinks that by drawing attention to Pertsev’s injustice, the incident will positively affect how people see open-source software.
