Key Facts
Brown was in Dubai at the time of his arrest and was extradited to New Jersey, the Miami Herald reported, noting it was unclear when exactly he was apprehended and when he would be transported to Miami-Dade County in Florida.
Brown, who was once the NFL’s top-paid wide receiver, faces up to 15 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine if he is convicted, according to the Associated Press.
The attempted murder charge is rooted in an altercation between Brown and another man during a boxing event hosted by online streamer Adin Ross.
Brown allegedly grabbed a gun from a security officer and fired two shots at the man, whom he had gotten in a fistfight with earlier in the night of the event, the Associated Press added.
Brown was detained but not arrested on the night of the shooting and had a warrant issued for his arrest in June, according to the Miami Herald, with his attorney securing him a $10,000 bond in addition to house arrest—though Brown never turned himself in.
The warrant says cellphone video from social media showed Brown with a firearm advancing toward the man and captured “two shots which occur as Mr. Brown is within several feet of Mr. Nantambu,” the Associated Press noted.

Who Is The Man Brown Allegedly Fired At?
Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, a 41-year-old jeweler, knew Brown for years before the altercation, according to court documents cited by the Miami Herald that said Brown falsely accused Nantambu of stealing $3 million in jewelry from him in 2022. Following the boxing event, Nantambu claimed to investigators Brown chased him with the gun before he was fired upon, alleging his neck was grazed by a bullet before he left the venue to seek medical attention at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital.
