Tyson Fury’s latest retirement might stick.
“I hear a lot of talk of the Gypsy King returning to boxing. What would I return for? More boxing belts? I’ve won 22 of them,” he said on Instagram. “… But I’m happy, I’m happy, contented with what I have achieved, what I’ve accomplished. I’ve been around the world and back again.
“And this is what retirement looks like for the Gypsy King. Not too shabby. I’m in no rush at all to come back [to] boxing and get my face punched in. For what? What would I return for? I ask that question. So here we are. I’m retired and I’m staying retired. I’ve got nothing to prove to anybody and nothing to return for.”
Tyson Fury’s Last Fight And Retirement
RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA – DECEMBER 21: Tyson Fury fights Oleksandr Usyk at Kingdom Arena on December … More
In December 2024, Fury dropped a unanimous decision to Oleksandr Usyk in a much-anticipated rematch of their May 2024 meeting, which Usyk won via split decision. In January, the 36-year-old Fury announced he was walking away from boxing. “I’m going to make this short and sweet, I’d like to announce my retirement from boxing,” said Fury.
“It’s been a blast, I’ve loved every single minute of it and I’m going to end with this. Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody, see you on the other side.”

LONDON, ENGLAND – APRIL 23: Tyson Fury celebrates victory as referee Mark Lyson checks on Dillian … More
Most took Fury’s words with a grain of salt when he hung up the gloves earlier this year. After all, Fury had retired before, most recently calling it a career in 2022 after he bested Dillian Whyte to retain the WBC heavyweight title.
“This is the truth, the gospel truth, nothing but the truth, I’m done,” Fury said. “You know every good dog has his day and like the Roman leader said, there will always be someone else to fight.”
“The fans will always want more, they are always baying for more blood. But at the end of the day I don’t have anything more to give.
“I’ve given everything I’ve got. I’ve been a professional 14 years, I’ve been boxing over 20 years.
“My time is to go out on a high. I always said that I wanted to walk away on top of the sport, and do it on my terms, and I didn’t want to be the person who said: ‘Well, I should have maybe retired two years ago,’ or whatever.
“I just wanted to walk out on top, go out with a bang. Nearly 100,000 at Wembley, with a knockout performance. They will not forget the Gypsy King in a hurry, and no amount of material assets or money will make me come back out of retirement because I’m very happy.”
Fury was back in action in December of that year, knocking out Derek Chisora in defense of his title.

Fury fought three times after the Chisora win, beating former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou by decision in 2023 before his two memorable scraps with Usyk.
Tyson Fury Vs. Anthony Joshua Speculation
The fight Fury has been tied to is against former heavyweight champ Anthony Joshua. However, that fight does not seem likely, with Fury doubling down on his retirement talk. At least not at the moment.
Fury and the 35-year-old Joshua have been in negotiations in the past, but those talks never brought them into the ring.
