Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp long ago proved he has reliable hands. Now he’s catching on with NFL fans as well.
Kupp surged to No. 3 in data provided by National Football League Players Association regarding sales of officially licensed NFL player merchandise.
Only Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady and Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson generated more revenue than Kupp, the NFL’s offensive player of the year in 2021.
The season’s first list tracking the league’s most popular players, via merchandise sold, ran from March 1-May 31, 2022.
Kupp, who was named the Super Bowl 56 most valuable player in the Rams’ win over the Cincinnati Bengals, is coming off a triple crown season in which he led NFL receivers in catches (145), yardage (1,947) and touchdowns (16).
After his first Pro Bowl season Kupp catapulted the player merchandise list, rising 26 spots higher than his previous listing. He made considerable strides in Fanatics-branded jersey sales, falling behind only Wilson.
The list is based on sales of more than 80 NFLPA licensed products, which includes jerseys, T-shirts, hoodies, bobbleheads, wall decals, socks and backpacks.
Three other L.A. players made the top 10, with Kupp’s teammates, defensive tackle Aaron Donald and quarterback Matthew Stafford ranking Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, in total sales.
Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was listed at No. 10, the final L.A. player among the top 20 sellers.
Wide receiver Odell Beckham, an unsigned free agent who played with the Rams last season, came in at No. 16.
Regarding revenues generated through Highland Mint framed memorabilia sales, Stafford was No. 2 and Kupp was No. 3, with Brady at the top of the heap.
