Stephane Gosselin, Co-founder of flashbots, has tweeted that he is no longer part of Flashbots and resigned last month from maximal extracted value (MEV) and the reason behind it, he told me, was disagreement with the team. He was also a general manager and a Board member at Flashbots.
Stephane Gosselin said
“In the short term, I am hopeful that validators will avoid connecting to relays that perform censorship. Blockspace suppliers putting economic pressure against censorship will go a long way to making sure it does not become ubiquitous”. He gave this statement to the block through direct messages on Twitter.
He also stated that for a diverse and competitive maximal extracted value (MEV) ecosystem, it is crucial to preserve censorship resistance. He also added that he was very proud of the project.
Flashbots is a research and development organization that directly focuses on reducing the negative network effect of maximal extracted value (MEV). At the same time, it also hosts a private auction separate from the mempool.
Flashbots launched the public beta of Flashbots protect last year in November, aiming to increase the powerful benefits of bundles to users with just a change in the RPU URL in their wallet of choice. And since then, it has been a great year for Flatboat.
Flashbots facing criticism over censorship
Post-merge, there have been many positive as well as negative news. Recently there have been many censorship concerns. The current statement of the Australian blockchain development agency Labrys is that only 25% of new blocks were added to the Ethereum chain post-merge.
Labrys’ CEO Lachlan Feeney said
“It is concerning to see how quickly the potential for censorship has grown unchecked since the Merge, and it is projected to get much worse. It is critical for the long-term success of the entire blockchain industry and not just Ethereum that layer -1 blockchains remain credibly neutral.
He added that it had been internally tracking protocol-level censorship since the Merge happened and was troubled by what it had discovered.
Ever since the maximal extracted value (MEV) providers have decided to ignore transactions from sanctioned mixing services Tornado cash, it has to deal with the criticism that said that Flash boat is enabling censorship on the blockchain.
Soon after all the criticism and question raised, Flashbots product lead Robert Miller responded and said that “the company is exploring ways to reduce dominance and the company has open-sourc
