First web3 game built with Ankr’s Gaming SDK goes live on the BNB Application Sidechain 

Play-to-earn (P2E) and web3 gaming are two blockchain innovations that have lately gained popularity among crypto enthusiasts, gamers, developers, and investors from all over the globe.

In the past, players devoted a significant portion of their time to gaming without receiving any monetary compensation. The advent of blockchain-based games, however, has altered the narrative.

Today, tens of thousands of blockchain gaming initiatives are developing various ways for gamers to make money while doing what they do best.

A free P2P multiplayer strategy game, Meta Apes, is now available on the BNB Application Sidechain (BAS). The Android app for Meta Apes is now available on Google Play, and the iOS app will be released shortly.

The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where mankind has perished, and a new age governed by apes has arrived. Each player must collaborate closely with their Clan to become the strongest and win the ultimate space race.

Taylor Shim, Business Lead at Meta Apes, mentioned that: 

“Meta Apes was born out of this idea of creating a community-oriented game that offers both audiences something valuable – 1) an opportunity for the traditional gamers to earn & truly own their in-game assets and 2) a much more interactive and enjoyable experience to the blockchain gamers who are primarily looking to earn.” 

She further added:

“Building on an application-focused sidechain helps us avoid a lot of the common issues seen in blockchain gaming like network congestion and giving us a lot more flexibility in terms of game design & tokenomics.”

Meta Apes will prioritise its own in-game coins, NFT characters, and genuine digital ownership. In addition, it will store the gameplay data on the blockchain instead of on a centralised server. Gamers can freely trade or sell in-game assets and make money while retaining the ownership of their assets.

Meta Ape was created using Ankr’s gaming software development kit (SDK), and it combines the entertaining gameplay that gamers enjoy in Web2 with the monetisation features inherent to Web3.

Ankr’s SDKs facilitate the conversion of Web2 games to Web3 by integrating NFTs, crypto payment gateways,  multi-chain wallet integrations, and everything else.

Meanwhile, Ankr also contributed to developing the BNB Application Sidechain (BAS), which allows developers to establish and operate alternative blockchains to the BNB Chain mainnet. Applications and games on specialised side chains offer significantly increased throughput and reduced transaction costs.

Undoubtedly, the future of gaming will be based on blockchain technology. Gamers realise that they should be compensated for their time spent on a certain platform. As a result, game designers include tokenised incentives as a primary element instead of a bonus.
