Fifty Fifty Joins BTS, Blackpink, NewJeans And BigBang With Their First Global Smash Single

South Korean girl group Fifty Fifty has been steadily climbing Billboard’s most important charts for over a month. Now, the band reaches a very special new peak position with their breakout single, and in doing so, they join an exclusive club of some of the biggest acts from their home country.

Fifty Fifty’s single “Cupid” jumps up the Billboard Global 200 chart once again this week, climbing from No. 13 to No. 9. This marks the first time Fifty Fifty has entered the top 10, giving the group their first placement inside the competitive region.

The Billboard Global 200 is the namesake music magazine and chart company’s weekly ranking of the 200 most-consumed songs in the world. The ranking uses a methodology that combines sales and streams to show what the masses are listening to, and “Cupid” has been a favorite among listeners for some time now.

Billboard notes that the group is now just the fifth South Korean group of any kind to score a top 10 hit on the Billboard Global 200. They’re in fantastic company, proving that they are not just popular newcomers, but global hitmakers.

BTS leads the charge among this collective in pretty much every aspect. The septet, now on hiatus, holds the record for the most No. 1 smashes among all acts, with half a dozen. They’ve reached the top 10 with 10 different songs.

Behind BTS comes Blackpink, another one of the most successful acts in the still-relatively-new chart’s history. The South Korean girl group is tied for the second-most leaders on the Billboard Global 200, with just two. Looking at the full top 10, the quartet has scored four placements in the region.

In third place among K-pop bands on the Billboard Global 200 is NewJeans. They are also just beginning on what will likely be a prolific career, like Fifty Fifty, though they’ve already landed a pair of top 10s on the worldwide chart, and they’re still just getting started.

Tied with Fifty Fifty with just one top 10 on the Billboard Global 200 is BigBang. The South Korean boy band has been successful for quite some time, and they remain incredibly popular, as is evidenced by their sole global smash.
