Fifty Fifty Joins BTS And Psy With Their First Top 10 Radio Smash

Fifty Fifty has become one of the big breakout stars in the global music industry this year thanks to their smash single “Cupid.” The song has already topped the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart and reached the top 10 on the U.K. Singles Chart. Now, the tune rises to a new high point on one very competitive Billboard chart, and the group manages a milestone that very few acts from their home country have accomplished.

This week, Fifty Fifty’s smash “Cupid” climbs again on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart, which ranks the tracks that reach the largest audience at pop radio across the U.S. The cut flies from No. 13 to No. 10, hitting the top 10 for the first time in its ninth frame on the tally.

Fifty Fifty is now just the third South Korean musical act to reach the top 10 on the Pop Airplay chart. They join soloist Psy and globe-dominating band BTS in the feat. Psy was the first to do so, when his single “Gangnam Style” peaked at No. 10 back in 2012. Since then, BTS has sent a pair of tracks into the region: In 2020, “Dynamite” exploded in popularity and rose to No. 5, and the following year, “Butter” slid to No. 7.

“Cupid” makes Fifty Fifty the first South Korean female act of any kind to score a top 10 hit on the Pop Airplay chart. Weeks ago, they broke out of a tie with Blackpink to land the highest-charting smash by a girl group from the Asian nation, and their ascent hasn’t stopped since then. The song is also tied as the third-highest-charting win by any South Korean act, matching Psy’s “Gangnam Style.”

In the coming weeks, it seems likely that “Cupid” will continue to fly. As the track is still performing extremely well across almost all metrics, and many in the U.S. are just now learning of its existence, it may break its tie with “Gangnam Style” in a frame or two, at which point the all-time rankings will need to be rewritten once again.
