FC Barcelona’s La Masia product Dro Fernandez will join Paris Saint-Germain on a contract until 2030 according to French magazine L’Equipe and Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, who both cited anonymous sources.
The youngster infuriated head coach Hansi Flick by telling the German on Friday morning that a then-unnamed team would activate his paltry $7 million release clause.
Amid rumours that Dro’s next club could be Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain, however, it has now been revealed that the latter outfit and Champions League holder will acquire the teenager for three-and-a-half seasons.
Furious Flick sent a warning to FC Barcelona’s La Masia stars and their entourages
At a prematch press conference to preview Sunday’s away trip to Real Sociedad, furious Flick sent a warning to La Masia youngsters and their entourages.
“I don’t want to answer because as a coach we give energy and confidence to the players, so that they develop. But there are people around him… I want to wait until it’s a thing of the past. If he leaves, we talk about it, but not yet,” Flick first said when asked about the matter.
Once again needled to remark on the topic towards the end of his sitdown with the local media, Flick added: “The situation, today, is that the players are here. Dro’s [deal] is not closed, I won’t answer. Things happen in football. You may disagree, but they are 18-year-old, adult players who make decisions. And there are adults who can incite them… I’ve said enough.”
His biggest words of warning, however, came when Flick stated: “I want to say to La Masia players. We are Barça. Here you can grow, train with the best players, get full support”.
“If you want to play at Barça, then 100% with your whole heart. You have to live for Barça colours. All the others, I do not want.”
Without Dro, FC Barcelona will take on Real Sociedad away on Sunday in its next La Liga outing as it holds just a one-point margin over Real Madrid at the summit.
