FC Barcelona Legend Heaps Praise On Flick’s Team: ‘I Love This Barca’

FC Barcelona legend Luis Suarez heaped praise on Hansi Flick’s modern day side and told Pasion Blaugrana that ‘I love this Barca’ during a conversation to its Instagram account.

Suarez is a Barca icon thanks to his exploits over a six-year period that ran from 2014 until a painful exit in 2020.

In his first season upon completing a $83.3 million (€75 million) move from Premier League giant Liverpool, which made him the fourth most expensive player ever at the time, Suarez won an impressive treble alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar as part of the fabled ‘MSN’ trident under Luis Enrique.

That conquest of course took in Barca’s last Champions League title won against Juventus in Berlin, and while Hansi Flick’s current young team won’t be able to repeat that feat after its last four exit to Inter Milan, Suarez is still impressed by an outfit that should still be able to complete a domestic triple crown following a 4-3 win over Real Madrid in El Clasico on Sunday.

“I love Barcelona today,” stated ‘El Pistolero’ to Pasion Blaugrana. “It has impressive dynamics, football and efficiency.”

The Uruguayan, who is currently at Inter Miami with ex-Camp Nou teammates Messi, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, added that the current Barca side “has a very high level and there are two players who are above average and make the difference, which are Lamine Yamal and Pedri”.

“They have other players, like Raphinha, who score at essential moments,” Suarez also stated, though it is the former mentioned pair that stand out the most for the striker.

“But Pedri… I am seeing a level of play that surprises me at the high level he is achieving; and Yamal is surprising me because of how old he is,” Suarez said about the number 8 and the teenager.

FC Barcelona could mount a dynasty

With Lamine not 18 until this summer, and Pedri just 22, the Spain internationals could mount the dynasty that the ‘MSN’ should have considering the amount of other young, talented players across the rest of the squad including Gavi (20) and Pau Cubarsi (18) who have their best years ahead of them.

When it scooped the treble, which is of course not to be sniffed at, Luis Enrique’s FC Barcelona side was expected to go on to mark an era even more impressively but had its dynamic broken up by the current PSG coach’s dismissal and Neymar’s sale to the same French club both in 2017.
