FC Barcelona Is Waiting For This Cash Windfall From Transfers

FC Barcelona is waiting for a cash windfall of more than $30 million related to outgoing loans and transfers.

It is no secret that Barca was thrust into an economic crisis which almost folded it as a club and institution at the turn of the decade.

Overpaying on transfers that didn’t work with the Neymar money and then some, as well as contract extensions, were mixed up in the pandemic and its lack of matchday revenue leading to huge plot twists such as then-president Josep Bartomeu’s resignation and Lionel Messi’s 2021 exit to Paris Saint-Germain.

Barca has regained its strength gradually, although it is no secret that it still owes money for purchases that brought the likes of Raphinha and Jules Kounde to Catalonia in June 30.

At the same time, however, other parties have to settle their accounts with the Blaugrana as part of what could be a key cash injection heading into next season.

As explained by SPORT, Barca is in line to receive more than €30 million, which would go a long way towards making Marcus Rashford’s loan move permanent from Manchester United.

Before July 1 this year, Sporting Director Deco and President Joan Laporta worked out deals that took Alex Valle to Como permanently and Sergi Dominguez to Dinamo Zagreb.

Additionally, the transfers of former players such as Ferran Jutgla and Ilaix Moriba to Celta Vigo means more money for Barca down the line.

The total incoming amount from outgoing loans and transfers shown in the club’s accounts at the end of the last financial year on June 30 was actually €55 million, but around €21.5 million of that sum has already paid in deals like that which took Pau Victor to Braga and Jan Virgili to Real Mallorca.

A quick bit of maths shows that €33.5 million should still be forthcoming, however, which would be a nice cash injection in the summer alongside other potential sales that could be made.

FC Barcelona already has transfer targets for the 2026/2027 season

In addition to possibly making Rashford’s stay permanent, Barca has also been linked to Harry Kane by The Guardian with the England captain their ‘first-choice target to replace Robert Lewandowski’.

Lewandowski, who was also signed from Bayern Munich in 2022, is a free agent next summer and there are no plans to renew the veteran. At the same time, Kane is at his peak with the Bavarian club but can be captured by reportedly triggering his €65 million release clause.

Elsewhere in Germany, FC Barcelona might be able to get Borussia Dortmund for a cut fee considering that he will enter the last 12 months of his contract on June 30, 2026.
