FC Barcelona Has Surprise List Of ‘Hectic Summer Sales’, Reports SPORT

FC Barcelona already has a list of players to potentially sell this summer ahead of the 2025/2026 season according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.

Hansi Flick has performed nothing short of a miracle this term after inheriting pretty much the same squad that finished last season trophyless under fired predecessor Xavi Hernandez.

With his cash-strapped employers making just two new additions, a seldom used Pau Victor and often injured Dani Olmo, Flick has Barca on the verge of sealing a domestic treble if it can beat Espanyol away on Thursday, while a young side was also just a few minutes away from reaching a first Champions Leage final since 2015 at Inter Milan’s expense a week ago.

Real Madrid won’t tolerate being dominated for long however, and is already ringing the changes by reportedly appointing Xabi Alonso to get the better of Flick.

Though Barca is currently considered the best and most exciting club team in the world by many, rival coaches will also spend the summer looking at ways to smash the German’s high defensive line while their chairmen and presidents make new signings.

Barca should bring in reinforcements too, but as has been a constant in past transfer windows, it will need mass exits to do so thanks to its precarious Financial Fair Play predicament.

Though 2024/2025 hasn’t wrapped up yet, SPORT reports that Sporting Director Deco has already drawn up a list of potential departures that has some surprising names on it.

It’s not too much of a shock to find Inaki Pena, Pau Victor, Pablo Torre and Ansu Fati on there considering how few minutes they’ve enjoyed under Flick.

Yet even the improved form of Frenkie de Jong still sees him as a candidate for a possible big money move because of his high price tag, and that same logic applies to Ronald Araujo.

Hector Fort is one of few substitutes at full back, yet his lack of experience has been highlighted in big games whenever trusted by the manager and he mans a position that is a priority to reinforce.

Perhaps the most alarming stars supposedly on the list are Fermin Lopez and Gavi, the latter of whom has previously been linked to Paris Saint-Germain.

They’ve recently renewed their contracts, but are second and third fiddle to Olmo for the CAM role in Flick’s current tactical scheme.

Saudi Arabia could come to FC Barcelona’s rescue

SPORT writes that FC Barcelona expects some proposals for its stars to come from the Saudi Pro League. And with “no one essential except Lamine Yamal”, Deco anticipates a “somewhat hectic summer in sales”.
