FC Barcelona announced its second first team transfer of the day via a statement sent to the media and its official website.
“FC Barcelona and RCD Mallorca have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Pablo Torre. The Blaugrana club reserves a buy-back right and a percetange of the capital gain from a future sale of the midfielder,” the statement began.
“The Club wishes him good luck and success in the future, both personally and professionally,” it then added.
On the official Barca website, the La Liga champion explained how, “as such the player from Cantabria brings an end to his three year spell as a blaugrana after arriving from Racing Santander in the summer of 2022”.
It noted how he spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Girona, and in his two campaigns with Barca made 27 appearances, scored five goals and provided four assists while showing “evidence of his undoubted talent”.
Yet the Catalans didn’t shy away from touching on the fact of how “under coach Hansi Flick competition in midfield was fierce with the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez in the squad”.
“Minutes were hard to come by but when he did feature he showed his class. Now, he has the opportunity to do so as a Mallorca player,” Barca concluded.
Though Barca didn’t provide any figures as per the amount of money Torre has been sold for, it was reported as $5.8 millon (€5 million) when the deal was being finalized a few weeks ago.
If accurate, this means that Barca has not made a loss on the midfielder who in his short time in Catalonia managed to win every trophy on offer in Spain including La Liga twice.
At 22, Pablo Torre is young enough in that if he finally kicks off in Mallorca and earns regular minutes, he could be brought back to the Camp Nou and provide positional rivalry to the mentioned names above.
In his maiden Spanish top flight outing for his new employers, he could face Barca as it travels to Son Moix to take on Mallorca and starts a defence of its championship crown on Matchday 1.
This is the second transfer announced by FC Barcelona at the turn of the week
Also on Monday, FC Barcelona announced that it had signed Roony Bardghji from FC Copenhagen. If he impresses Flick, the young Swede could stay in the German’s first team squad and mount a challenge to Lamine Yamal’s ownership of the right wing berth.
