FC Barcelona Ace Lewandoski ‘Proud’ To Score First Goal At Camp Nou

FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski said that he was ‘proud’ to have scored the first goal at the new Camp Nou, which was the opener in a 4-0 rout of Athletic Club in La Liga.

Ferran Torres scored a brace while Fermin Lopez got on the scoresheet amid a pair of fantastic Lamine Yamal assists.

When all is said and done, though, it is Lewandowski that can look back in the history books and boasts that he was the first to put the ball in the back of the net at the renovated, half-finished stadium, which hadn’t seen a competitive match since May 2023.

“We were returning to the Camp Nou and for us it was a special day. We are very happy to be able to play here,” Lewandowski told DAZN post-match.

“From the beginning, we played very well, we scored two goals in the first half and another two in the second. We added three more points”, the Pole highlighted, while stressing that most important thing for Hansi Flick’s men “is that we are back here” because “it’s something else when we play here”.

Barca was clearly aggressive in its approach to the match, with Lewandowski revealing that “we had in our heads that we had to attack from the start”, which made it “special” that he was the first to get off the mark on four minutes.

“I’m very proud. We have a very good team and we have to look forward now. When we play at Camp Nou we are a slightly stronger team,” he claimed.

Lewandowski is on fire for FC Barcelona

Injured for a good part of what has already been played in the 2025/2026 season, Lewandowski has returned to top form with four goals in his last two games, with his previous outing before this seeing him bag a hat trick away at Celta Vigo.

“I’m 37 years old but for me it was a special day. To be able to play here again… To score a goal, in the end it was four goals and I think that every game here we can play like today or better,” he remarked.

FC Barcelona and Lewandowski now head off the road, with Tuesday’s mouthwatering clash against Chelsea in the Champions League regarded a must-win thanks to both teams’ position in the league phase table.
