I’m not sure how March is almost over. This month has sped by so fast I think I have whiplash. It’s already the 26th and sometimes I feel like it’s still February.
That’s not quite true. It’s so warm all of a sudden, I honestly can’t tell what time of year it’s supposed to be. Did we just skip spring altogether and hop into summer?
Clearly I’m a bit confused!
Whatever the case, March is on the way out and April is about to spring forth with a whole slew of new Netflix content for you to watch. Scroll down for the full list of currently announced titles, or read on for some highlights.
P.S. I recently wrote a piece questioning whether or not Netflix is still worth the cost after the recent price hikes and given all the fierce competition in the streaming space. Check it out here and let me know what you think on Twitter or Facebook.
April 2022 Netflix Highlights
Before we get to the Big List, let’s take a look at some of the highlights for the month.
For third party content, we have some great movies landing in April. Dropping on April 1st (no joke!) we have the quirky sci-fi romantic comedy Her starring Joaquin Phoenix and (the voice of) Scarlett Johansson. It’s a great little meditation on love and AI and relationships.
You can also binge the entire Blade trilogy starring Wesley Snipes if only to whet your appetite for the new Mahershala Ali-led Blade MCU film.
Other good picks include the Ben Afleck-directed Argo, the wonderful animated movie How To Train Your Dragon and two classic war films: Full Metal Jacket and Saving Private Ryan. Oh, and if you’re in the mood for horror, there’s The Ring.
Netflix Originals in April
Trivia Quest
Beginning April first we have the new Trivia Quest, a daily interactive trivia experience that you can play every day in April. Each day there are new trivia questions to solve. Pretty fun!
Relic Hunters Rebels
Trivia Quest isn’t the only content coming to Netflix that’s interactive. Now that Netflix is in the gaming space, we can expect monthly game release as well. Relic Rebel Hunters is one such game—an RPG/looter/shooter.
The Bubble
From director Judd Apatow (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Bridesmaids) comes The Bubble, a Netflix Original comedy about a group of actors stuck inside a pandemic bubble in a hotel trying to complete a cheesy action movie. The movie-within-a-movie formula could work well here, especially given how badly we need to laugh about the pandemic at this point. Comic relief is more important than ever during such trying times. Quite the ensemble cast as well:
Russian Doll Season 2
Natasha Lyonne’s time-loop (think Groundhog Day) dark comedy was a big hit in its first season. Fans can look forward to a second season on April 20th.
Ozark Season 4 Part 2
Last, but not least, the second part to Netflix’s crime drama Ozark lands on April 29th. If you watched the first part of Season 4 and were confused about why it was so short and ended the way it did, it’s because Netflix has been (wisely) splitting up some of its premiere shows into two-part seasons. The streaming company is doing the same thing with Stranger Things 4 this summer and did something similar with the excellent animated show Arcane recently as well.
