Every Song From Kendrick Lamar’s New Album Lands On Billboard Chart

Topline

All 18 songs on Kendrick Lamar’s newly-released album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers charted on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, including 13 that ranked in the chart’s top 40 tracks—becoming just the fourth artist in history to cross that benchmark for top 40 dominance.

Key Facts

Only three other artists have seen more than a dozen of their songs reach the Billboard top 40 simultaneously, according to Billboard: Drake (who had 21), Post Malone (who had 14) and Lil Uzi Vert (tied with Lamar, at 13).\

Meanwhile, nine songs by Lamar charted in the Hot 100’s top 20, Billboard said, a feat also accomplished by Drake, J. Cole, Juice WRLD, Olivia Rodrigo and Post Malone.

Lamar charted a total of 19 songs on this week’s Billboard Hot 100—which tracks the commercial success of songs based on streams, sales and radio airplay—including all 18 songs from Mr. Morale as well as “The Heart Part 5,” a song released as a part of a single series earlier this month.

Mr. Morale debuted at the no. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, which tracks albums based on sales, streaming and airplay, and had the largest figure for one-week total sales for any album so far this year.

Tangent

Lamar’s control over the Billboard Hot 100 may be short-lived. After the release of Mr. Morale on May 13, Harry Styles dropped his new album Harry’s House on Friday. In its first two hours, it broke the Apple Music record for the most first-day streams of a pop album this year. From Friday to Sunday, songs from Harry’s House took up the entirety of Spotify’s Top Songs Global Debut chart, and just one weekend after its release, the U.K.’s Official Charts reported Monday that Harry’s House is already the fastest selling album of the year so far.

Key Background

Mr. Morale is Larmar’s fifth studio album, not including his work on the Black Panther soundtrack. The album features artists including Summer Walker and Kodak Black. With the chart success of Mr. Morale, Lamar has had 69 songs in total rank in the Hot 100. Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Eminem headlined the Super Bowl halftime show in February.
